Bio

The Occasional Collective is the archived hub of creative collaborations and projects by Imogen Semmler.

Imogen is an agroecologist, science educator and creative innovator who is passionate about healthy soils and landscapes in our farming systems.

Prior to becoming a scientist, Imogen spent many years working in the arts - both as an artist and a creative producer for events and festivals. She was also the founding Artistic Director of Underbelly Arts (2007-2012) an event for emerging and experimental artists in Sydney; and is a member of the Kandos School of Cultural Adaptation.

Since completing an Honours degree in Ecology at the University of New England in 2020, Imogen has worked as an agroecologist for both Bush Heritage and Farming for the Future. With her business Agricola Projects she now works independently as a consultant and educator for clients including Soil Land Food and ACT NRM.

Combining her skills across the arts, ecology and communication has led to her special interest in creative based science education. Imogen collaborates with clients to create fun and interactive projects which blend performance, participatory games and education with a focus on agricultural ecosystems. These experiences encourage play, curiosity, creativity and discussion around a concept or idea.

Check out Agricola Projects for current projects and upcoming events.
